9th April

When we woke this morning we were very glad we had a cabin. We could not see a thing for the fog and i had to put three pairs of clothes on Olivia when i took her for her morning walk! If this is how cold it is in Autum imagine Winter! There are signs around the park warning you to fill your kettle with water the night before as it often freezes in the pipes overnight and the only way to get water is to boil the kettle. They also warn you not to leave heaters on when you are not there so that you don't burn their park down! We had packed up by 830 and headed off to see the Cooma gaol and museum which is actually still in use and run by inmates. We met a few inmates which was a little daunting but were not alowed to take photgraphs of the museum. Below is a photo of the actual prison from the outside. After this we saw the Cooma flags which represent all the nationality that make Cooma and also the monument for the man from Snowy River.

Next we headed to the Cooma railway to take a scenic train ride. In the ticket office there was a model train which had Sophie enthralled as it went round and round. She had to be dragged away to ride the real train!

After the train ride we had lunch at KFC and headed off to Yass via Canberra. It was not a bad drive and we negotiated the outskirts of the city easily. Sophie and Olivia found some playmates at the caravan park in Yass and we are now going to sleep to the sounds of what seems to be french backpackers next door in the camp kitchen! Nite all
