12th April

Again we woke to rain but thankfully it was just a quick drop and we were packed and on the road by 730. Warmly wrapped in three layers as it seems to be getting colder and colder. May need to buy a heater!

Heading for Dubbo our first stop was Young where we walked down main street but otherwise moved on. Took a few photos of old buildings.

We drove through Forbes where gold was discovered in 1861 attracting Bushrangers and their respective gangs while Olivia took a nap and then stoped for lunch at a park (sadly no playground) for some lunch in Parks NSW which main tourist attraction is The Dish (CSIRO radio telescope and discovery centre) which was in a film called...wait for it....the dish!

Reached Dubbo by 3 and set up at caravan park. Kids got to play on playground and jumping pillow while the others set up (Sophie was estatic as we had not seen a jumping pillow in about 2 weeks). After this the in laws went to see about having the car serviced and we checked out Old Dubbo Gaol. After a few false starts i went one way with the girls planning to give James a bit of peace to see the Gaol but once inside the girls were very well behaved and really enjoyed it. It had interative features such as models talking and explaining what they were in for and what happened in Gaol, it was self toured so you could take your own time. Sophie's favourite part was the gallows where i must admit she looks quite the part! hehe.

The in laws car was booked in for service the next morning so we booked in for another night and spent the first of two freezing nights in Dubbo!
