30th March

This morning we woke to SA time, the girls slept in until 745 and if we had not wanted to hit the road they probably would not have woken up until even later. It was still dark until almost 8am! We ended up having a later start than planned and hit the road about 930 and headed off towards Port Lincon.

Smoky Bay was our first stop and obviously sharks are a bit of a worry as there was a shark fence next to the jetty!

Streaky bay came next and we diverted off the main road for a little while travelling 50k to Port Lammat where there was the only colony of Sea lions living on the main land in Aus. The road was just being graded which meant it was lovely and smooth but unfortunatly there was also a LOT of dust! The sea lions were great to watch and the only pity was that there are just not enough hours in a day to see everything! We also stopped at Murpheys haystack, some natural rock formations on the way to Port Kennedy for lunch.

After Port Kennedy we went to Elliston and travelled along the Ocean road tourist drive which had some lovely beaches and sand carvings before heading along the home strech to our destionation of Port Lincon. We also ssaw the monument of Makybe Diva on the foreshore of Port Lincon before checking into another near full caravan park for two nights. Looks to be another cold one tonight so im off to snuggle under the blanket where it is warm!

Goodnight XXX

29th March

We woke to fog, frost and freezing wind this morning. Both girls ended up in our bed by 5 as it was so cold and we had packed the car and hit the road by 630 travelling through fog and watching the sun come up as we went along. Did a fair bit of travelling again today and Sophie pushed the limits all day long. Strains of im hungry and are we there yet filled the air as well as babyish cries and complaints. She also screamed, yelled, woke her sister when she finally drifted off and generally carried on like a baby all day. When we did stop and get out she continued and was naughty and not listening until i was just about ready to park up and put her to bed!

On the other hand Olivia was spectacular today only crying when Sophie woke her and taking turns of riding in Nanna's car as well as ours. We saw the Great Aus Bight and Sophie wanted to know who was going to bite us1 Very cute. We reached Ceduna at 5 to find the caravan park full and so went to the other one paying $40 a site as that was all they had left. It may have cost a bit but it came with ensuite shower and toilet that were in lovely condition and very clean. We also went for a wander through town having fish chips and salad for dinner at Bills which was lovely. Heading to Port Lincon tomorrow and should not have the no signal problem for a while as will be reaching ADL by fri. Fingers crossed Sophie gets whatever was wrong with her out of her system tomorrow and that we all have a much happier and calmer day!

Enjoy the photos and Goodnight all

28th March

After a reasonably uneventfull night (up a few times but easily back to sleep and nothing major) we were on theroad by just after 6am continuing on what is described as one of the world must do adventures. The girls had been pretty good during the trip so far, the normal squabbles arrising and being tired of sitting in the car being about the only problems so far.

We took a few photos of what we saw along the way and by about 3 we had reached the boarder of WA and SA. We decided to spend the night at Border store caravan park as (SA time) it was already 530. Jimmy bought a litre of milk for an exhoberant (not spelt right) $4.60 but won $20 on the pokies which he said just about made up for it and at least he had real milk to put on his weetbix!

We had another early start so after taking out $2 for 10 mins shower we went to bed and the night got colder!

27th March

Well after no signal for 2 nights i am now behind on my blogs so ill go back to the 27th where we left off in Kalgoorlie headed for Norseman.

Visited Coolguardie (prob not correct spelling but its dark and im not looking it up for you all sorry) and saw the free historic park which was a bit rough but still interesting enough. There was a sign on a shop door which i loved (the shop was closed btw)ive posted it below for you to read. We then drove on to Norseman (the gateway of the nullaboar).

Having reached Norseman by lunch we had a picnic at the park and took a photo of the famour Norseman horse which Olivia loved. We also met a couple and their 3 young children (8 months 2 years and 4 years) who were also travelling the Nullaboar and whom we would meet up with a few times along the way much to the girls delight! As it was so early we decided to head off across the Nullaboar and eventually reached Belladonia which was not much more than a servo/roadhouse/museum/caravan park all encrusted with the dirt of the Nullaboar! Had an early night as we planned a bright and early start tomorrow.

26th March

And I thought Thursday night was rough! We forgot to put a nappy on Sophie when she went to bed so had to change sheets and clothes about an hour after we went to bed and then another hour after that Libby woke 3 times in a row crying and the last time she spewed everywhere! YUCK with a capital Y. She went about 3 times that night and fell alseep instantly afterwards. Sophie then woke at 5 for milk and Libby at 6 was wide awake and absolutly fine! Still have no idea what was wrong with her but had a ton of washing to do and it cost $4 a load!

We went to the park in the morning and then on a city tour which showed the superpit and lookout we visited yesterday and also Kalgoorlie's other big tourist attraction the brothels. We saw the outside (and only outside thank god) of the towns 3 famous brothels as well as some pioneer houses and other interesting information.

We heard about Paddy Hannon and his mates who basically stumbled across the first gold in Kalgoorlie literally by kicking it. They then got rich just by picking gold up off the ground! The above photo is of the girls sitting on the Paddy Hannon statue on you guessed it Hannon st! Off to bed now to hopefully sleep! Heading to Norsman tommorrow for the night before we strike out across the Nullaboar.

Goodnight all

25th March

Well what a night last night was! After dinner we headed down to the Jetty to say goodnight to Sammy the sea lion and low and behold we met a couple who had not long ago been up in Darwin on a holiday! They have been travelling for three years!(older couple) and spent months up there fishing in all the locals spots and exp the real NT. They were very happy to talk to us but we all agreed that the weather might just about kill us when we get home as we have finally acclimatised to WA weather. Oh well have to re- acclimatise! hehe.

When we got back we put sleeping Olivia to bed and Sophie watching a DVD and I went to get the washing i had put on before we left. The first time i put it on i thought Bargin! only $2 but after putting the money in i discovered it was broken! Grrr so into another machine it went and when we got back from our walk i went to put it in the dryer (which was $1 for an hour) but it was being used. After about half an hour James told me that the other toilet block had them too so off i went to check, it took me two trips to fill the new dryer and away it went and went and went. At 10.30 i took it out and went to bed in a bad mood as my washing would stink to high heaven and need to be washed again by the time we reached Kalgoorlie! The dryer did not work and the washing was still wet wet wet! Luckily i woke in a better mood after kids slept most of the night and as it was a cool night the washing was in much the same condition but did not smell. I threw it all back into the original dryer and just before we were ready to leave picked up my lovely smelling dry washing! FINALLY!

We headed to Kalgoorlie and lost Trish and Jimmy in Norsman as they thought we were behind them and we thought they were in front. 45 minutes after we left Norsman Trish managed to get throu to us on the mobile saying are you all right we were just about to go to the police station and get them to see if they could catch you on the radio. Thought you must have broken down! So as they were an hour behind us we stopped for lunch at Kalbolder and had a swim in the local pool which the girls thought was the best thing ever!

Once in Kalgoorlie we went to check out the super pit which the girls thought was pretty cool and also some lookouts. Back at the caravan park the girls found some friends their age and played whilst dinner cooked. After dinner and bath we went back to the super pit to see it at night which was pretty cool as were the lights of the city.

Well off to bed now so good night everyone!

24th March

This morning it was my turn to take the kids to the park as again we had a bit of a rough night. Olivia decided she had to be in our bed and used me or james as a pillow and stole our blanket all night long!

We had packed up camp by 8 and hit the road on the way to Esperence. When we arrived we set up camp and had red rooster for lunch on the beach with Sammy the sea lion at Tankers Jetty.

After that we went for a drive along the great ocean road to give the girls a bit of a nap and saw the pink lake which unfortunatly was not pink today!

We also had an ice cream at the shops and bought the girls some sunnies so they can stop squinting in our photo's. We then went and looked at all the old stuff in the museum and played at Adventure Park which unfortunatly was under repair at the moment, missing half the play equipment and the kids train only runs on weekends! Oh well what the girls dont know wont hurt them, they had fun anyway! Heading to Kalgoorlie tomorrow and will post if signal is as good as it is here!
